GREEN TO GO
Enjoy your meals to go while reducing waste on campus. Green To Go is Heidelberg University’s reusable to-go container program, available in the Hoernemann Refectory. By choosing reusable containers instead of single-use packaging, the program helps reduce what ends up in landfills and supports a more sustainable, long-term approach to campus dining without sacrificing convenience for students.
HOW GREEN TO GO WORKS

- Check Out a Container
Visit the cashier in Hoernemann Refectory and scan your Heidelberg student ID to check out a Green To Go container. - Fill Your Container
Take your reusable container to the dining stations and add your food, just like you would with any meal. - Enjoy Your Meal
Take your meal to go and enjoy! Plastic disposable cutlery is available from the cashier. - Return Your Container
When you’re done, return your container to Hoernemann Refectory by placing it in the dish return area.
Cashiers can also check your account to let you know if you currently have a container checked out.
WHY GREEN TO GO MATTERS
- Designed for busy student schedules. Green To Go makes it easy to take meals on the go without slowing down between classes and activities.
- Flexible dining options allow students to visit multiple stations in the dining hall and build a meal that fits their preferences.
- Reusable containers reduce single-use packaging, helping reduce waste and support campus sustainability efforts.
